From China Energy News Network
China Energy News Network (Reporter: Qu Yi) - On December 18, at the 2023 World Hydrogen Youth Scientist Forum, the China Hydrogen Energy Alliance officially released China's first zero-carbon innovative hydrogen energy sports competition project, the "2024 New Energy Powerboat Challenge * Hydrogen Powerboat League." The league, jointly initiated by the China Hydrogen Energy Alliance and the sports industry regulatory authorities, aims to promote breakthroughs in hydrogen energy technological innovation and commercialization, lead and accelerate green and low-carbon transformation, and advance the energy revolution.
The sport of new energy powerboats originated in Monaco, and the Monaco New Energy Powerboat Challenge has been held for ten consecutive sessions since 2014. As a platform for exchanging cutting-edge ideas and testing the latest technologies, the event has become an incubator for supporting scientific and technological research and development, synergistically promoting the sustainable development of the natural environment, sports competition, and technological innovation. The "2024 New Energy Powerboat Challenge * Hydrogen Powerboat League" will strategically cooperate with the Monaco New Energy Powerboat Challenge to showcase the deep integration of the sports competition platform with the industrial chain and innovation chain. It is committed to creating an internationally influential and professional zero-carbon innovative sports event, promoting the application of hydrogen energy technology in the field of ships through the "hydrogen energy innovation + sports competition" collaborative model of industry, academia, and research. It also aims to build a friendly platform for cooperation and exchange in the fields of environmental protection, marine research and development, clean energy, green economy, and accelerate the formation of green, low-carbon production and lifestyle, while jointly exploring low-carbon, safe, and sustainable development pathways.
According to the competition rules, the "2024 New Energy Powerboat Challenge * Hydrogen Powerboat League" is open to universities. Each participating team will design and race their powerboats on standardized boat bodies provided by the organizing committee. Hydrogen fuel cell-related companies can cooperate with universities by sponsoring fuel cell products, providing technical support, and forming teams. The China Hydrogen Energy Alliance and the sports industry regulatory authorities will establish a technical committee for the competition, guiding the formulation of technical standards and establishing an evaluation system, with the international professional event team, Rongyi Sports, responsible for the operation. This innovative sports event provides a new validation platform for the research and application of hydrogen energy technology in the field of ships. The event starts with the hydrogen-electric ship powertrain system, optimizes the matching of various components through the electronic control system, and achieves key technical indicators such as ship power and safety. By combining the competition scenario with system verification, it gradually realizes intelligent ship control and establishes an intelligent event management platform.
The China Hydrogen Energy Alliance actively promotes the integration and development of the hydrogen energy industrial chain and innovation chain through hydrogen energy events. It has held the Hydrogen Energy Specialized Entrepreneurship Competition for two consecutive years, with over 300 companies participating, and has pioneered the first domestic hydrogen-powered car race, the "China Hydrogen Car Super League." It has built an integrated platform for conferences, exhibitions, competitions, and services, and formed a cooperative mechanism for government, industry, academia, research, and finance to interact and collaborate. The winning team of this competition will represent China in the 2024 Monaco New Energy Powerboat Challenge. The league will concurrently expand domestic and international events, gradually promoting it to countries and regions in Europe, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East, and continuously strengthening international hydrogen energy exchange and cooperation.
